1. I love how only two captions here are actually races.
2. Everyone is a little bit racist. Nobody will admit it. That’s why psychologists figured out a way to implicitly find out how racist people are.
Well, maybe that was misleading. This test is simply assessing unconscious associations and judgments we make to connect people (e.g., white, black) with attributes (e.g., good, bad). Don’t feel bad if your test results may indicate that you tend to make surprising associations. Everyone does. Fortunately, we are able to regulate our behavior according to suit what is socially appropriate thanks to our prefrontal lobes. So, just because you have these immediate judgments, you know better not to act on those right away.
Are people nowadays really less racist or are they better at covering it up? I think it’s a little of both.
3. I understand the meaning behind this image. Racists are supposed to be brainless. I am going to have to ruin it like always because I take things too literally sometimes. Racist people actually do have a lot of structure in their brains. They have tons of cognitive schemas, or stereotypes, with a plethora of information based on their experience and exposure to particular groups (even if they never had personal contact, there is still TV). Their schemas are strongly structured and it takes a lot to knock them down. When being exposed to new stimuli (e.g., an individual) that fits a certain schema (e.g., Chinese, blonde, American Apparel employee), that stimuli is automatically transferred to the folder in their brain so they can access information about this new individual based on past experience. Other people’s cognitions may be different in that their routes from stimuli to schema contain obstacles so they are not so quick to make snap judgments. Additionally, their schemas are probably not as built up and are much more flexible as compared to people who make quicker judgments.

Wait, so like, this girl goes to college and stuff? UCLA? Um… whose dick did she suck to get in ne-way? And wait, she, like, goes to the library?

Sometimes I feel bad that blondes have a stereotype of being stupid, but sometimes I don’t.

Do You Know South Korea? by David Dutton

A beautiful and compelling video of why you should get to know South Korea and why I so dearly love this country that I’ve come to now call home.

Can you spot your favorite intern?

So this is something kind of strange I take part in.

You’re like “Yeah, that’s me. I’m bad ass. OK, time to GTFO out of here. BUS!” But really, this is cool!
